Summary:

We purchased a mini laptop and all in one printer for the teachers use and the Microsoft Home and Business to be put on it. We also bought a projector that can be connected to a laptop and a portable airliner wireless slate. The projector will allow the teacher to show presentations and activities in a fun and easy way. The airliner wireless slate takes this a step further; this product was made for a SMART board but can be used with a computer and projector as well. The wireless slate allows the teacher to interact with anything shown through the projector from anywhere in the classroom, it's like having the computer screen in your hands. We also purchased five new computers and one printer for student use. For these computers we bought two Microsoft Office Student software’s that can each be used three times, five Jump Start Advance, two Jump Start Study Helper, five Mavis Beacon Keyboarding Kidz, and a Study Island package. Jump Start Advance will help students practice math, reading, geography, history, and critical thinking skills. Two Study Helper software’s will be available for students who need extra help or after school tutoring. Also, the Mavis Beacon Keyboarding Kidz will help teach students how to type correctly and quickly to benefit them in the future while Study Island helps prepare them for the FCAT. Kidspiration and ClickN Read/Spell will also be available on each computer for students to use. Lastly, we purchased two Olympus voice recorders so students who are having trouble reading, students who are learning to speak English, and students participating in group projects can record themselves and play it back. Our final hardware purchase was a wireless tablet, which would be a tool to the teacher. The tablet hooks up to any computer and provides extra assistance in group presentations, or in our case, teaching the class. This tablet supports split screen functioning, allowing more than one thing to be focused on at once. It also allows the teacher to control their computer from the tablet, which would save time in the classroom. It is a great tool to use when the projector is otherwise occupied and always leaves a backup. In addition to our software purchased, we also bought 2 copies of McAfee virus protection, which would protect our investment in the expensive computers we bought. For purchasing so many computers, we cannot afford to lose one or have it out of commission due to a virus and by taking an extra step we can avoid this.
